Final day in Finland: Returning back to Germany

Last morning in sunny Finland, and the sun was shining so bright, we hardly could think about entering the plane to Munich (and then another plane to Hannover)… But as the luggage was packed and every piece of it was not too heavy, Team Germany took a nice bus back to Helsinki Airport. Just after arriving at the wrong terminal, we easily found the right one within close walking distance: fortunately, the airport is not too big and well structured: we found the Lufthansa gate and got rid of our luggage soon to have enough time for a tasty (and[…]

Day 5 – Ready for a real adventure today!

We started very early at school today to start our big adventure in the forest. We went by bus to Evo, a little village that mostly consists of a nature park. Our Erasmus+ team was split into two groups, one group started with an amazing paddling tour through the lakes while the other group started with a hiking tour through the old forest with trees of 150 years of age and even older. After lunch, the two groups changed and the second group was allowed to go paddling. We got a lot of information about the nature, beaver habitats and[…]

Today, we started our day even more early! We are all ready for leaving Iittala behind and driving with the bus (“bussi”) to Tampere, the third-largest city in Finland. It took about an hour to get there and the drive was absolutely worth it: we went directly to the Varala sports institute, where five instructors were waiting for us! Our Erasmus+ team were split into 4 groups and everyone just needed to put on the helmet: we were learning a lot about climbing, securing each other with ropes and overcoming the fear of height! No matter if you stack drinks crates[…]

Second day in Finland: learning about physio and how to strengthen the body (and trying it out at Hugo Park)

Even early in the morning (at around 5.30am) the sun was already shining!!! Nevertheless, our students had to be at school on time for a nice presentation and a physiotherapist’s lecture on ergonomics, exercise and physical health. We learned what a “text neck” is and how we can handle back pain caused by long sitting on a chair. We made exercises and everyone could check how fit he/she is and how everyone can do these kind of exercises in the everyday life easily. After lunch at school we went to Hugo Park in Aulanko. We were all very astonished by[…]

After that we had a meeting with all students of the Iittalan Yhtenäiskoulu in the sports hall. Very impressive! In addition to that, we got to know our school much better with a little guided tour through the buildings, which ended in the school‘s sports hall with some exciting sports: the whole Erasmus team was splitted in three different groups. The first group[…]
