Christmas in Finland  By  9th grades at Iittala For Finnish kids, the countdown to Christmas begins during Advent, when the streets are decorated. Children and adults alike have fun opening windows on Advent calendars, one window a day until Christmas Eve. Usually the windows reveal light-hearted Christmas pictures, although the flaps sometimes conceal chocolate or other small gifts. In Finland, Christmas is a big event. UK team celebrating Christmas across Europe

The UK Team would like to wish all our friends in Norway, Finland and Germany a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. The UK students met together to wish each other a Happy Christmas, and to look at different Christmas foods across the countries represented in our Erasmus+ project, including stollen in Germany, glögi in Finland, ribbe in Norway, and of course turkey and Christmas pudding in England. The students will continue to make a healthy lifestyle an essential part of their day to day lives, looking forward to a healthy and active New Year 2019!

Day 7: Leaving Norway

We got up early in the morning. The bus left Sodin Skole at 7am and after a 2 hour bus ride we finally got back to Trondheim Vaernes Airport. Team England and Team Germany took KLM flight 1174 to Amsterdam together, where Team Germany had to wait for another two hours for their flight to Hannover. Right on time at 17.45 we arrived at Hannover airport and everyone could see, hug family and friends again..

Day 6: Working together in school and winning the tournament

We started early again today with a teacher´s meeting, while the students learned how to use the iPad in Norwegian classes. As Norway is much more innovative concerning the use of iPads in school, they all could learn a lot. After preparing dinner for the gala event tonight, we had a little lunch, before playing the Norwegian game “Serveball” against each other. Day 5: Visiting Leroy and finally being back in the nature

We started the day again at school at 8am in the morning. The bus (and the friendly driver) took us to Leroy (Belsvika) where we got a great introduction to the Salmon growing facility. After getting to know how everything inside the large building works (keeping all salmons healthy with a complicated filtration system), we had the chance to have a closer look at the biological department.
